A delicious pizza starts with a great crust. One that is tasteless at best, and gross at worse, will ruin the taste of a pizza no matter how great the sauce and toppings are. Making pizza dough is extremely easy. A person can go about it one of two ways.
They can create a pizza dough using yeast or without it. The former will take a bit longer and will require individuals to plan ahead.
For people who have time, this is fine. However, those who want to quickly assemble a pizza and need dough immediately may choose to make pizza dough without yeast, obviously because it can be baked right away. In this article, will explain how to make an easy and delicious pizza dough with yeast.
To begin, a person needs to add two packages of dry yeast to a bowl that contains 1 ¼ cup of water. This mixture needs to be stirred until the yeast has dissolved into the water. Next, two cups of flour needs to be mixed in and then stirred. An additional 1 ½ cups of flour needs to be added. When the mixture becomes stiff, then it is time to move on to the next step.
A spot on the counter needs to be cleared and floured. Take the dough out of the bowl knead it for roughly 15 minutes. You will know that you are finished kneading when the dough appears smooth but still has some give to it. It should feel elastic.
After kneading the dough, a second bowl should be greased with margarine, butter or oil. The kneaded dough will be placed in the bowl and turned at least once so that it becomes coated with oil. A piece of plastic wrap should be placed over the bowl and the dough needs to be allowed to sit for roughly 45 minutes. This step is completed when the dough doubles in size.
After the dough has doubled in size, take it out of the bowl and place it back on the original floured surface. Divided it in half. Use one half and freeze the rest if you desire. This recipes is enough for two pizzas.
Next, roll out the dough with a rolling pin and the place it on a pizza stone or baking sheet (greased). If you decide to use a pizza stone, then placing a little cornmeal on it can be very helpful. Not only does it add some texture but it makes it easy for the pizza to be taken off of stone after it has been baked. Lastly add your favorite toppings and cheese, then bake the pizza pie.
